(St. George - Oct. 9, 2025) – Utah Tech women's soccer kept pace with Utah Valley, 3-3, to draw the WAC leaders on Thursday night at Greater Zion Stadium. The Trailblazers snapped a seven-game losing streak to the Wolverines and spoiled a three-game UVU win streak with the draw.
Utah Valley (7-4-2, 3-0-1 WAC) put the first shot on goal in the fifth minute. Senior goalkeeper
Brianna Frey saved a shot by Wolverine senior midfielder Sierra Pennock down the middle.
Frey logged another stop, getting in the way of a strike by UVU senior midfielder Ruby Hladek in the 13th minute.
Redshirt sophomore forward
Lataya Brost logged the first shot on target for Utah Tech (5-4-4, 1-1-2 WAC) in the 15th minute. Wolverine senior goalkeeper Leah Wolf stopped Brost's boot to the bottom right.
Wolf saved a shot by freshman forward
Jocelyn Wright toward the left post in the 18th minute.Â
On Wright's next chance, she gave the Trailblazers a 1-0 lead. Senior midfielder
Kyah Le set up Wright on the left side of the attacking third. From over 40 yards out, Wright dribbled past her defender and into the box, where she rocketed a right-footed shot to the left upper 90.Â
Frey stopped a high shot by Utah Valley graduate forward Faith Webber in the 25th minute.
UVU tied the game in the 38th minute. An initial shot by Hladek was blocked by a UT defender, but Wolverine junior forward Nixan Jackson cleaned up on the rebound with a shot to the right side of the net.
Frey got in the way of a shot by UVU junior midfielder/defender Jacey Wood in the 41st minute. Frey made her fifth save before halftime to keep out a chance by Utah Valley junior forward Sadie Beardall in the 44th minute.
In the 45th minute, Wolf collected a long shot by Le for her third save.Â
Webber scored on a penalty kick to give the Wolverines a 2-1 advantage in the 49th minute.Â
On a free kick, Wolf dived to save Le's top-right shot in the 56th minute.
Senior forward
Lacy Fox had two shots on goal saved by Wolf in the 61st and 66th minutes.Â
In the 67th minute, junior midfielder
Teagan Jaussi leveled the match at 2-2 with a right-footed goal. Junior forward
Ella Rusick collected the loose ball after Wolf's save in the 66th minute and sent a low cross right to Jaussi near the penalty mark. Jaussi buried the shot to score her first career Division I goal. It was Rusick's first assist of the season.
Utah Valley responded with its third goal in the 68th minute to claim a 3-2 lead. On a UVU corner kick, Frey made an initial save on a shot by Beardall. On the rebound, Jackson netted her second goal of the night in the same way as her first.Â
Le scored the equalizer for Utah Tech in the 73rd minute. On the right side of the attacking third, Fox dribbled into the box down and centered a ball toward Le, who hit a one-timer past Wolf toward the left post and into the back of the net. It was Le's fourth goal and Fox's fourth assist of the season.
Frey made two more saves to preserve the tie over the last 17 minutes. First, she stymied Hladek's shot from the top of the box in the 80th minute. In the 88th minute, Frey dove to the right post to stop a header by Webber. Frey finished the match with a season-high nine saves.
Utah Valley outshot Utah Tech 28-13 and held a 13-9 advantage in shots on goal.Â
The Trailblazers return to action on Sunday, Oct. 12, hosting California Baptist at Greater Zion Stadium. As the second game of a doubleheader with UT men's soccer, kickoff is set for 1:30 p.m.
