(St. George - Oct. 9, 2025) – Utah Tech men's soccer toppled RV San José State, 3-1, on Thursday evening at Greater Zion Stadium. The Trailblazers collected their first win in WAC play by snapping a four-game SJSU win streak to defeat a receiving votes opponent for the first time since 2020.
Sophomore midfielder
Dunes Nielsen recorded the first shot on goal for Utah Tech (2-5-4, 1-0-1 WAC) toward the left post in the fourth minute. SJSU redshirt senior goalkeeper Edgar Guerra made the save.
Nielsen's second shot went to the back of the net to give UT a 1-0 lead in the 14th minute. Nielsen caught up to a through ball by sophomore forward
Taylor Rogers and put a left-footed shot past Guerra on the right side of the goal. It was Nielsen's third goal of the season.
San José State (8-2-2, 1-1-0 WAC) recorded its first shot on goal in the 23rd minute. Freshman goalkeeper
Luca Campoli saved Spartan junior midfielder Gilberto Rivera's shot to the bottom right of the goal.
SJSU senior midfielder Angel Iniguez tied the match with a right-footed blast in the 27th minute. He collected a loose ball in the box and netted a cross-goal shot from the right side of the box toward the left post.
On a corner kick, San José State senior defender Javier Lopez hit a header just over the crossbar in the 53rd minute, spoiling one of the Spartans' best chances.
Rogers reclaimed the lead for the Trailblazers in the 62nd minute. Fifth-year forward
Colby Lee found space down the left side and sent a cross into Rogers. He dribbled to the right and fired a right-footed shot to beat Guerra at his near post. It was Roger's fourth goal and Lee's fourth assist of the season.
Campoli foiled an attempt on goal by SJSU sophomore midfielder Neo Ruiz from the top of the box in the 66th minute.
In the 76th minute, a UT defender blocked a shot by Ruiz, and Campoli saved a rebound shot by SJSU sophomore midfielder Daniel Fregoso Bautista. Campoli finished his night with a career-high five saves in his fifth career start and his first career win.

Mitch Williams netted an insurance goal to put Utah Tech up 3-1 in the 83rd minute. Redshirt freshman forward
Stetson Coy sent a low cross into the box, where freshman midfielder
Zach Taylor flicked the ball past two Spartans to an unmarked Williams, who put a right-footer into the back of the net. It was Williams' first career goal and the first career assists for both Coy and Taylor.
SJSU outshot UT 18-6, with a 7-4 edge in shots on goal. The Trailblazers led the foul count 11-6.
Utah Tech will host its senior day against Air Force on Sunday, Oct. 12, at Greater Zion Stadium. As the first game of a doubleheader with UT women's soccer, kickoff is set for 11 a.m.
