Lee Leads Trailblazers Past Air Force, 4-0, on Senior Day

(St. George - Oct. 12, 2025) – Fifth-year defender Colby Lee scored a brace on his senior day to lead Utah Tech men's soccer past Air Force, 4-0, and to a dominant conference win on Sunday at Greater Zion Stadium. The victory puts Utah Tech in first place in the WAC at the time of publication, with two more conference games scheduled for Sunday night.

The Falcons (1-9-2, 0-3-0 WAC) rattled off the first four shots of the game over the first 24 minutes. Air Force freshman midfielder Quinn Muderlak nearly scored on a shot in the box in the 28th minute, but senior Tyson Nguyen made a team save just steps in front of the goal line.

Utah Tech (3-5-4, 2-0-1 WAC) scored on its first shot in the 29th minute. After a Trailblazer corner kick, Air Force headed the ball out of the box right to Lee, who volleyed a one-timer into the back of the net. It was the first Division I goal for the Hawai'i-Hilo transfer. Senior Oliver Stone hit the crossbar on a UT chance in the 30th minute.

Air Force freshman goalkeeper Caydence Robinson made his first save on a low shot by Nguyen in the 34th minute. While going after the rebound, sophomore midfielder Dunes Neilsen was fouled by Falcon freshman midfielder Donovan Corbett in the box. Although not initially called on the field, UT was awarded a penalty kick after a VAR review. Neilsen buried the Trailblazers' first penalty kick of the year to the bottom left of the net to give Utah Tech a 2-0 lead.  Sophomore forward Taylor Rogers forced a save by Robinson in the 40th minute on a shot to the bottom left of the goal.

In the final seconds before halftime, senior Andre Saucedo fired a long shot on goal, forcing a last-second save by Robinson before the break.

In the 48th minute, Robinson and redshirt junior defender Tanner Dutra collided, leading to injuries that required substitutions. Sophomore Brody Smith became the new Air Force goalkeeper.

Freshman GK Luca Campoli made his first save on a shot by Falcon sophomore midfielder Joe Bennett in the 57th minute.

Stone had another chance at goal stymied by the Falcon goalkeeper in the 74th minute.

Lee recorded the Trailblazers' second brace of the season in the 77th minute. Rogers dribbled to the edge of the box and centered the ball to Lee, who once again shot on the first touch, getting enough power on the ball to get it past Smith despite the goalkeeper getting a leg on it.

Air Force freshman midfielder Braedon Gehring put a long shot on frame, forcing a Campoli save just after kickoff in the 77th minute.

Junior defender Miguel Regino's shot from the top of the box was deflected by a defender and saved by Smith in the 85th minute.

In the 86th minute, Campoli made his third and final save on a chance by sophomore midfielder Oliver Becker. Campoli posted his second career shutout in the win.

Rogers put the game on ice with a goal in the 89th minute. Freshman midfielder Jacob Cinelli set him up near the spot, and Rogers turned and blasted a right–footer into the back of the net.

Smith made two more saves, thwarting shots on target by Saucedo and Regino in the final minute.

Utah Tech outshot Air Force 18-16 with an impressive 12-4 edge in shots on goal. It was a chippy game, with each team drawing three yellow cards and the foul count ending at 18-17 with the Trailblazers committing one more than the Falcons.

UT honored eight seniors before the match, including defenders Anthony Godinez and Cole Bradley; midfielders Nguyen, Jerod Allen and Stone; forwards Lee and Saucedo; and goalkeeper Stockton Short.

Utah Tech returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 18, at San Diego State. Action at SDSU Sports Deck in San Diego, California, is set to begin at 8 p.m. (MT), with a live stream on WAC International.
