(Las Vegas, Nev. - Oct. 4, 2025) – Utah Tech men's soccer earned its first point of WAC play in a 0-0 draw at UNLV on Saturday night at Peter Johann Memorial Field. The Trailblazers snapped a three-game losing streak with freshman goalkeeper
Luca Campoli's first career solo shutout.
Surrendering only five shots with just one on goal to UNLV (3-4-3, 0-0-1 WAC), the Trailblazers (1-5-4, 0-0-1 WAC) recorded their lowest opponent shots and shots on goal totals in a single game this season. It was UT's third shutout and second away shutout of the season.
After 18 minutes of stout defense by both sides, the Rebels logged the first shot of the contest. UNLV redshirt junior forward Nick Legendre hit the right post on a chance inside the box in the 19th minute.Â
Just before halftime, senior midfielder
Tyson Nguyen put the first shot on goal for Utah Tech. Surrounded by Rebels, he found a window at the top of the box on a pass from sophomore forward
Elijah Dinkel and fired a low shot, which was saved by UNLV junior goalkeeper Hugo Lemos.Â
While both teams were able to create offensive chances, they were primarily limited to the wings and failed to take shots, with each team having just one shot at the break.Â
Campoli stopped one of the best UNLV chances in the 56th minute. Rebel junior forward Tyler Ware chested a shot on goal from a cross, and Campoli dove to stop it with a left-handed save.Â
In the 69th minute, fifth-year forward
Colby Lee sent a ball into the box where redshirt freshman forward
Brandon Khedoo was waiting. He headed it to junior forward
Samir Cuevas, who bicycle-kicked a shot on goal, but Lemos made the stop in the 69th minute.
Sophomore forward
Taylor Rogers had a high-speed chance in the box in the 76th minute, but his left-footed shot was blocked out of bounds.Â
In the 79th minute, sophomore midfielder
Dunes Nielsen raced toward a through ball and got a piece of it before Lemos blocked it out of the box. A few minutes later, Nielsen had a shot blocked out of play on another opportunity inside the box in the 83rd minute.Â
Lee got in front of a rocket of a shot by Rebel sophomore defender Thomas LeBeuf to block it off goal in the 85th minute.Â
In the closing seconds, freshman midfielder
Jacob Cinelli centered a ball to Cuevas, who cannoned a shot toward goal but right into the leg of a Rebel defender in the 90th minute.Â
Utah Tech outshot UNLV 6-5 with a 2-1 edge in shots on goal. The foul count was even at 8-8, and the Rebels had one more offside called, 2-1.Â
The Trailblazers host their conference home opener against San José State on Thursday, Oct. 9. As the first match of a doubleheader with UT women's soccer, kickoff is set for 5 p.m. at Greater Zion Stadium.
