(St. George - Oct. 31, 2025) – Despite a spooky start, Utah Tech men's soccer stormed back for a 2-2 draw with Utah Valley on Halloween night at Greater Zion Stadium. The Trailblazers secured their 13th point of WAC play with the tie, putting them in first place with three conference matches remaining this weekend.Â
Freshman goalkeeper
Luca Campoli made his first save, denying a shot from a corner kick by UVU senior midfielder Gilles Aurelien. Wolverine redshirt junior forward Noah Pogue scored off the save, heading the ball past the goal line on the right side of the net to give Utah Valley (8-3-3, 2-3-2 WAC) an early 1-0 lead in the third minute.
UVU extended its advantage to 2-0 in the 30th minute. Wolverine freshman forward Lewis Knecht dribbled into the box and centered a ball for sophomore midfielder Isaac Emojong. He took a touch and netted a left-footer from 10 yards out.Â
Utah Tech (4-6-6, 3-1-3 WAC) fired its first shot on goal in the 35th minute. Junior midfielder
Landon Huebner put a ball on frame from the top of the box, forcing a save from UVU redshirt sophomore goalkeeper Kolby Sessions.Â
Off the ensuing corner kick, Emojong gave UT a penalty kick after he was charged with a handball in the box. Sophomore forward
Taylor Rogers converted the PK, blasting a right-footer into the top left corner to cut the UVU lead to 2-1 in the 35th minute. It was Rogers' seventh goal of the season.
Sophomore midfielder
Dunes Nielsen hit a spin move at the top of the box and blasted a high shot toward goal, but Sessions punched it over the crossbar in the 43rd minute.Â
On his fourth shot of the evening, Nielsen tied the game in the 56th minute. Redshirt sophomore defender
Tanner Dutra sent a ball over 50 yards forward to Nielsen, who opened a window between two Wolverines by cutting to the left and chipped a shot over Sessions with his left foot. It was Dutra's first career assist and Nielsen's fifth goal of the season.
Campoli denied Aurelien in the 63rd minute, punching out another shot on frame from a corner kick.Â
In the 64th minute, Campoli made a kick save on a one-on-one shot by UVU sophomore midfielder Mason Abdella.
Campoli said no to a chance by Wolverine junior forward Jose Luis Martin Montealegre, putting both hands on the shot from inside the box to push it wide left in the 70th minute.Â
The Trailblazers went down a man in the 80th minute when junior defender
Miguel Regino was shown his second yellow card.
In the 87th minute, Campoli punched a shot over the crossbar off a header by UVU junior defender Toke Amtrup.Â
Campoli foiled Aurelien for a third time, staying in front of the Wolverine's shot on a free kick in the 88th minute. The freshman GK posted six saves, including five in the second half, to preserve the 2-2 draw for Utah Tech.Â
Utah Valley outshot the Trailblazers 16-7 with an 8-4 edge in shots on goal.
Utah Tech will head to Riverside, California, next week for the 2025 WAC Men's Soccer Tournament at CBU Soccer Stadium. The Trailblazers' matchup and final seed will be determined after this weekend's remaining WAC contests.
