(Riverside, Calif. - Oct. 26, 2025) – Behind two corner kick goals, Utah Tech men's soccer upset No. 25 California Baptist, 2-1, on Sunday night at CBU Soccer Stadium. The Trailblazers reclaimed first place in the WAC standings and clinched a spot in the WAC Tournament with the win.
UT (4-6-5, 3-1-2 WAC) secured its first win over the Lancers in the Division I era, snapping a nine-game CBU series win streak. It was also Utah Tech's first win over a DI-ranked opponent, first victory over a ranked opponent since 2012 and second all-time win over a ranked opponent.Â
Freshman goalkeeper
Luca Campoli dove to stop a shot by Lancer junior midfielder Stavros Charalampous, logging his first save in the ninth minute.
Campoli followed that up with three saves in just over two minutes, starting by denying a shot by CBU sophomore midfielder Tizian Marth in the 13th minute. Campoli said no to another shot by Marth and a follow-up by CBU sophomore striker Blake D'Agostino in the 14th minute.
On a Lancer free kick in the 18th minute, Campoli grabbed a shot by Marth for his fifth save of the match.
California Baptist (8-3-3, 3-2-1 WAC) started the scoring in the 18th minute. D'Agostino capitalized on a breakaway, netting his 10th goal of the season from the top of the box. Former Trailblazer graduate midfielder

The Trailblazers answered off a corner kick in the 21st minute. Sophomore midfielder
Denilson Velasquez sent a low cross in to senior midfielder
Jerod Allen. Allen backheeled it to senior defender
Anthony Godinez, setting him up for a diving header to score his first goal of the season.Â

Colby Lee put a right-footer on target in the 25th minute to force CBU junior goalkeeper Hugo Do Rego to make his first save.
Off a corner kick, Lancer freshman wing Liam Jones put a shot on target toward the top left corner in the 67th minute, but Campoli was there to make a save. The rebound shot by CBU junior wing Felix Ezekwuka was blocked by traffic.
In the 84th minute, freshman midfielder
Jacob Cinelli capped a counterattack with a strong shot by the left post, forcing Do Rego to make a save.Â
Redshirt freshman forward
Stetson Coy scored the game-winning goal in the 85th minute. On a corner kick, he tracked down a cross from sophomore forward
Taylor Rogers and headed it into the right side of the back of the net, giving Utah Tech a 2-1 lead. It was Coy's first career goal and Rogers' fifth assist of the season.
Campoli sealed the victory, making saves on shots by Ezekwuka and D'Agostino in the 87th and 89th minutes, respectively. Campoli finished the match with a career high eight saves.
The Lancers outshot the Trailblazers 22-12 with a 9-4 advantage in shots on goal. Each team committed 12 fouls, and CBU tallied 12 corners to UT's four.Â
Utah Tech wraps up the regular season by hosting in-state rival Utah Valley on Friday, Oct. 31. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. on Halloween night at Greater Zion Stadium.
