(Phoenix, Arizona - Oct. 23, 2025) – Utah Tech men's soccer battled to a 2-2 draw at Grand Canyon on Thursday evening at GCU Stadium. The Trailblazers earned their eighth point of WAC play to tie for second in the conference with two matches to play.
GCU (8-3-3, 2-1-2 WAC) struck first, taking a 1-0 lead with the first shot on goal of the contest in the 31st minute. Lope junior midfielder Allan Rosales scored on a left-footer from the top of the box. Grand Canyon freshman defender Jack Kiefer assisted on the goal.
UT (3-6-5, 2-1-2 WAC) leveled the contest with a penalty kick goal in the 35th minute. Freshman midfielder
Jacob Cinelli was fouled in the box by GCU freshman midfielder Diego Sanchez, giving sophomore forward
Taylor Rogers an opportunity from the spot. He buried his chance into the left side of the goal. It was Rogers' team-leading sixth goal of the season.
In the 42nd minute, Cinelli nearly scored on a left-footed chance from the left corner of the box, but GCU graduate goalkeeper Daniel Ibarra batted the ball over the crossbar.Â

Anthony Godinez put a shot on target, forcing a punch out by Ibarra in the 58th minute.
Freshman goalkeeper
Luca Campoli stopped a one-on-one chance, blocking the ball away from the WAC's leading scorer, GCU freshman forward Junior Diouf, at the top of the box in the 62nd minute. On the rebound, Lope senior forward Nelson Gomez Rodriguez fired a shot on target, and Campoli dived to his right to make his first save of the night.Â
Utah Tech claimed a 2-1 lead in the 65th minute. After an initial shot by Rogers was saved by Ibarra, redshirt freshman midfielder/defender
Mitch Williams cleaned up, scoring his second career goal with a right-footed shot on the loose ball.Â

Stetson Coy put a shot on target by the right post in the 73rd minute. Ibarra made a kick save to protect his near post.
Campoli survived a Lope barrage, making two saves on three shots on goal from the 78th through 81st minutes. First, he denied Sanchez's bicycle kick. Campoli then corralled a header by Diouf in the 79th minute. Redshirt sophomore defender
Tanner Dutra made a team save, stopping a shot by Diouf after he dribbled around Campoli in the 81st minute.Â
Junior defender
Cihan Caliskan fouled Diouf just inside the box in the 85th minute. He equalized the match, scoring down the middle after a stutter step from the spot.Â
The Lopes outshot the Trailblazers 15-9, but each side logged six shots on goal. Each team was called for 13 fouls and one offside.Â
Utah Tech plays its last road match of the season on Sunday, Oct. 26, at No. 25 California Baptist. Kickoff is set for 8:30 p.m. (MT) at CBU Soccer Stadium in Riverside, California.Â
