(Abilene, Texas - Oct. 2, 2025) – Utah Tech women's soccer tied with Abilene Christian, 1-1, on Thursday night at Elmer Gray Stadium. Senior forward
Lacy Fox scored her third goal of the season to help the Trailblazers remain undefeated in WAC play.
Utah Tech (5-3-3, 1-0-1 WAC) put the first shot on goal in the seventh minute. Senior midfielder
Kyah Le got past two defenders at the top of the box, but her shot was saved by ACU (4-7-1, 0-2-1 WAC) senior goalkeeper Lili Ross.
After a couple of near misses by redshirt sophomore forward
Lataya Brost, including a bicycle-kick goal called back for an offside offense, Fox fired a shot on frame in the 17th minute, which Ross stopped.
Fox found pay dirt roughly 30 yards from goal to give Utah Tech a 1-0 lead in the 23rd minute. Le stole the ball from a Wildcat, giving it to Fox, who played a pass to Brost. She quickly sent it to Le, who set up Fox from distance. The senior took one touch and blasted a right-footed shot over Ross and under the crossbar for the Trailblazers' third goal of conference play.
ACU managed just three shots in the first half, all of which were off target.
Le challenged ACU's substitute freshman GK Bella Medrano five minutes after the break. Le dribbled from midfield and smashed a shot from just outside the top of the box on goal. Medrano rose up to stop the shot in the 51st minute.
In the 56th minute, Brost figuratively broke her defender's ankles and ripped a shot on target from the right side of the box, but Medrano made her second save.
ACU finally recorded a shot on target in the 85th minute. On a counterattack, Wildcat redshirt junior forward Peyton Hill found an opening on the left side of the field and tried a long-range shot in the 85th minute. Senior goalkeeper
Brianna Frey leaped up to make the stop and earn her lone save of the match.
In the 90th minute, the referee awarded Abilene Christian a penalty kick. He determined that a collision in the box was the fault of Frey when she came to the ground after jumping for an attempted save. ACU graduate midfielder Abby Smith scored from the spot to tie the game.
Utah Tech outshot Abilene Christian 12-10, with a 5-2 advantage in shots on goal. The foul count was even at 11-11. UT was called offside four times.
The Trailblazers return to action against Tarleton State on Sunday, Oct. 5, in Stephenville, Texas. Kickoff is set for noon (MT) at Tarleton Soccer Complex, and the match will be streamed on ESPN+.
