(St. George - Oct. 17, 2025) – Utah Tech women's tennis won the third-place doubles match on Friday in the UT-hosted 2025 WAC Women's Tennis Invitational at Trailblazer Tennis Courts. The Trailblazers combined for a 2-1 mark on day two of the invite.
Sophomore
Maya Inouye and junior
Mariana Zurita Berdecio teamed up for UT in doubles action. The Trailblazers outlasted UT Arlington in the third-place match, 7-6 (7-5), 5-7, 1-0 (13-11). UT won the first set in a tiebreaker and took the match with a 13-11 mark in a prolonged super tiebreaker. Tasnime Ahamout and Vanja Cado represented the Mavericks.

No. 6 Inouye was also victorious in her singles match against No. 7 Ahamout, 6-4, 4-6, 7-6 (8-6). In a back-and-forth match, Inouye pulled out her first singles win of the tourney in a third-set tiebreaker.Â
Inouye will challenge UTA's Sofia Selle, the No. 8 seed, at 9 a.m. tomorrow.Â
No. 4 Zurita Berdecio came up short against top-seeded Maria Castano of Tarleton State, 6-3, 6-0.Â
Zurita Berdecio will play in the singles third-place match against No. 2 Emma Persson, another Trailblazer vs. Texan contest, at 9 a.m. tomorrow.Â
Tarleton State won the doubles crown, 6-3, 7-6 (11-9), over Abilene Christian.Â
The singles championship is set for 10:30 a.m. tomorrow, featuring Castano and ACU's Masha Vrsalovic, the No. 3 seed.Â
