Trailblazers Shut Out Tarleton State, 1-0, on Thursday Night

(St. George - Oct. 16, 2025) – Utah Tech women's soccer shut out Tarleton State, 1-0, on Thursday night at Greater Zion Stadium. The Trailblazers picked up their second WAC win and eighth point of conference play with their second shutout of the season.

Tarleton State (7-6-3, 1-4-1 WAC) logged the first shot on goal in the 15th minute. Senior goalkeeper Brianna Frey saved TSU senior forward Stevie Reynolds's shot from the left corner of the box.

Frey stopped another Reynolds shot, saving a long free kick in the 18th minute.

Utah Tech (6-5-4, 2-2-2 WAC) collected its first shot on goal in the 39th minute. Sophomore midfielder Bre Koscielski hit a header toward the right post, and Texan junior goalkeeper Rylie Bloomfield batted it out for her first save.

Senior forward Lacy Fox tried a shot from the right side of the box in the 49th minute, making Bloomfield dive to her left post for the save.

Redshirt sophomore forward Lataya Brost scored the game-winner off an assist by Fox in the 54th minute. It was Brost's second goal of the season and second career game-winning goal. On a counterattack, Fox dealt the ball to Brost on the right side of the box. She dribbled inside the 18 and hit a left-footer past the outstretched Texan GK and into the back of the net. It was Fox's fifth assist of the year.

TSU senior midfielder Jayce Bass tested Frey with a boot from the top of the box in the 54th minute, but the goalkeeper collected the chance down the middle.

Freshman defender Abby Olsen got a long shot through traffic and on target in the 56th minute. Bloomfield managed to track the ricochet and make a save.

Frey stood in the way of a long shot by Tarleton State sophomore forward Gabrielle Williams in the 61st minute.

Brost put another shot toward the right post in the 62nd minute, but this time Bloomfield protected her near post.

In the 67th minute, Fox put a shot on from the right corner of the box, but Bloomfield got in the way.

Redshirt senior Kearney Hoggan got a header on frame from a corner kick in the 76th minute. Despite being screened, Bloomfield stopped the shot.

The Texans' last chance on goal came in the 78th minute. Frey caught a 30-yard shot by TSU sophomore midfielder/forward Reegan Wagg to make her fifth and final save. With 90 scoreless minutes, Frey posted her second shutout of the season and her seventh career clean sheet, tying her for fourth all-time in Utah Tech history.

Bloomfield finished with eight saves, making two more stops in the final 11 minutes.

Both teams totaled 14 shots, but Utah Tech held a 9-5 edge in shots on goal. With the win, UT sits in third place in the WAC.
