(Riverside, Calif. - Sept. 21, 2024) - The Trailblazer cross country teams returned to action on Saturday morning at the UC Riverside Invitational hosted at the UCR Agricultural Operations Course.
With the women competing as a team, while the men only ran two runners, three Trailblazers posted top five time in program history in their respective races.
On the women's side, junior
Lexi Larsen was the Blazers' top finisher clocking the fourth-fastest 6K to come in 55th and she knocked off more than 35 seconds off her previous best.
Not competing as a full men's team in the invite race, sophomores
Kyle Neuenschwander and
Ryan Hatch both posted top 75 finishes and clocked the second and third-fastest 8K times in program history, respectively.
Neuenschwander placed 49th posting a time of 24:16.5 while Hatch finished 73rd in a time of 24:31.8.
The women finished 22nd as a team scoring 537 points while Utah State won the women's race with 67 points. California Baptist won the men's race scoring 25 points.
Seven Trailblazer men competed in the men's 8K open division race with
Trent Holiday being the top finisher placing 32nd with a time of 25:29.1. The Blazers took fifth as a team in that race scoring 192 points.
Three more Trailblazer women raced in the women's 5K open division led by junior
Kinley Spaulding.
The Trailblazers return to action at the Southern Utah Color Country Invitational hosted at the Cedar Ridge Golf Course on Oct. 4.
