(Orem, Utah - May 3, 2024) - The Trailblazers opened up their series at Utah Valley on Friday morning with an 8-0 loss to the Wolverines in five innings at the Wolverine Softball Field.
Utah Tech (19-28, 12-11 WAC) was held to only three hits in the contest with a pair of base knocks from
Marisa Rubio for her ninth multi-hit game of the season along with a single by
Sadie Gardner. Both Rubio and Gardner also each stole a base when they were able to hop on the basepaths.
In the circle,
Attlyn Johnston made her 21st start of the season tossing 2.2 innings allowing five runs, only three earned runs, struck out two while only walking one.
Utah Valley (21-26, 13-10 WAC) got the scoring started with a five-run third inning. UVU got a pair of unearned runs to start the action after a Trailblazer throwing error.
Three more RBI base hits followed for the Wolverines for a 5-0 lead before adding three more runs in the fifth belting a solo home run followed by a walk-off two-run home run by Peyton Hall.
The Trailblazers and Wolverines close out the series with a doubleheader on Saturday at noon.
