(St. George, Utah - March 4, 2024) - The Trailblazers wrapped up the Trailblazer Tournament on Monday afternoon falling to Utah, 6-1 at Karl Brooks Field.
Utah Tech (6-10) notched a pair of hits with a single from
Laura Lockard and a double from
Baylee Howley.
On the pitching side, the Trailblazers got a start from
Attlyn Johnston tossing 1.1 innings before being relieved by
Danyelle Leone who threw the final 4.2 innings.
Utah (13-6) got on the scoreboard first with a pair of runs in the first inning on a bases-loaded walk and a sacrifice fly followed by a pair of RBI singles in the second inning to push their lead to 4-0.
After a scoreless third and fourth innings, the Utes added a run in the fifth before the Blazers got on the board in the sixth breaking up a perfect game with a leadoff double to left center by Howley as she came around to score after a throwing error by the Utah catcher on a strikeout sailed past first base.
Utah added a run back in the bottom of the frame on a sacrifice fly to complete the scoring.
The Trailblazers close out their homestand on Tuesday hosting Utah State (9-9) at 3 p.m.
