(Abilene, Texas - March 30, 2024) - Coming down to the final few matches, the Trailblazers fell 6-1 to Abilene Christian on Saturday afternoon at Eager Tennis Pavilion.

"It was a very long, hard-fought match," said head coach Eric Pelton. "The team really played well and competed hard! Very proud of their efforts and attitudes!"

Leading off with a win at number two doubles, the duo of Ana Gutierrez Sampere and Ya-Chi Hsu won 6-4, but the Trailblazers other two doubles team stumbled to drop the doubles point.

On the singles side, Rachel Mellor earned a win at number four singles winning the opening set, 6-3 before dropping the second set. Closing it out in the third set, Mellor claimed a 6-4 win to give the Trailblazers a team point.

At number one singles, Adithi Venkatakrishnan won the opening set, 7-5, but couldn't get either of the last two sets to fall in a tight battle.

It was a similar fate for Mariana Zurita at number three singles as she won the second set, 7-6, only to drop the third set, 6-3 in a close contest.

Another close contest ensued at number six singles with Raquel Roshak going to a tie breaker in each of the opening sets, and after winning the opening one, dropped a close battle in the second one and fell 6-1 in the third to suffer the loss.

The Trailblazers continue their road trip on Tuesday at UT Dallas (4-4) at noon.
