(St. George, Utah - March 30, 2024) - The Trailblazers closed out their series against Grand Canyon on Saturday afternoon falling to the Lopes, 10-2 in six innings.
Utah Tech (11-21, 4-5 WAC) recorded five hits in the contest, including a two-run home run by
Rachel Campbell.
In addition to Campbell smacking her team-leading seventh homer of the season, the Blazers also got a pair of base hits from
Carly Eldredge as well as singles from
Maka Sonognini and
Marisa Rubio.
In the circle, the trio of
Attlyn Johnston,
Tyler Denhart and
Danyelle Leone saw action combining to strike out three.
Grand Canyon (30-8, 9-2 WAC) got the scoring started with a three-run first inning followed by a solo home run in the second for a 4-0 lead.
The Blazers responded with a two-run home run by Campbell to left field to cut the Lopes lead in half after a pair of innings.
Three more runs came across for GCU in the third to extend their lead to 7-2 and after an RBI single in the fifth drove in two more for a 9-2 advantage, the scoring ended in the sixth on a solo home run by Ramsay Lopez.
The Trailblazers travel to BYU (20-13) on Tuesday for a contest at 5 p.m.
