(Nacogdoches, Texas - March 24, 2024) - The Trailblazers were held to one run on Sunday morning falling 3-1 at Stephen F. Austin to close out its series against the Ladyjacks at SFA Softball Field.
Utah Tech (11-17, 4-2 WAC) was held to three hits in the contest with a pair of singles from
Maka Sonognini along with a base knock from
Carly Eldredge.
Attlyn Johnston made the start in the circle tossing four innings striking out four before giving way to
Tyler Denhart and
Danyelle Leone for one inning apiece.
The Trailblazers got the scoring started right away in the first inning on a sacrifice fly by
Rachel Campbell that drove home
LB Kahahawai-Kekona. The leadoff center fielder reached base after starting the game by getting on base thanks to a SFA throwing error.
Stephen F. Austin (9-25, 2-4 WAC) knotted the game at one in the third inning scoring on a fielder's choice before taking a 3-1 lead in the fourth on an RBI double and a sacrifice fly.
The Blazers were held to just one hit over the final three innings as SFA pitcher Alexis Telford threw a complete game for the Ladyjacks.
The Trailblazers return home to host BYU (17-12) on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
