How It Happened
With scoring in five of the seven innings, the Wildcats got the action started early in the first with a run. The Trailblazers quickly answered back with a three-run shot to right-center by Lockard for her first long ball of the season.
The Trailblazers padded their lead in the second with four more runs getting RBI singles from Howley,
Carly Eldredge and Kahahawai-Kekona as she swiped home after Lockard got into a rundown between first and second base that allowed the run to score before she was tagged out.
The Wildcats answered right back with a run in the third and tacked on seven more in the fourth for a 9-7 lead.
Far from deterred, the Blazers responded right back with a run in the bottom of the fourth to cut ACU's lead to one.
Heading to the bottom of the sixth, the Blazers continued their comeback efforts batting around the order to score four runs and take a 12-9 lead.
Singles by Kahahawai-Kekona and Lockard and a hit by pitch from pinch-hitter
Drew McKown loaded the bases.
A two-run RBI single back up the middle drove in two to push the Trailblazers ahead by one and after a walk to
Marisa Rubio loaded the bags back up, Howley gave UT a pair of insurance runs with an RBI single through the left side.
Working around a leadoff single, Leone retired the next three Wildcats to preserve the win and give the Trailblazers the series win.
