Trailblazers Tripped Up at Boise State on Tuesday Night

The Trailblazers close out their road swing at Utah State on Saturday night at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum.

(Boise, Idaho - Dec. 3, 2024) - Nine Trailblazers scored on Tuesday night at Boise State as Utah Tech fell to the Broncos, 87-64 at ExtraMile Arena.

Utah Tech (2-8) was led in scoring by the duo of senior guards Justin Bieker and Noa Gonsalves with 10 points apiece.

Samuel Ariyibi, coming off the bench for the first time this season, added nine points and a team-high five rebounds, while freshman guard Hunter Schenck registered a season-high nine points.

Seeing his run of three straight double-doubles come to an end, senior guard Beon Riley added eight points, two rebounds and an assist.

How It Happened
The first seven minutes of action saw the Trailblazers nearly keep pace with the Broncos trailing 12-9 after a three-pointer from Ariyibi.

A 9-2 run for the Broncos opened up a 10-point lead (21-11) with just under nine to play in the opening half.

A three-pointer from Riley cut the Broncos' lead down to eight (32-24) four-and-half minutes later, but Boise ended the half on a 16-7 run to take a 17-point lead to the break.

With the Broncos extending their lead to as many as 29 (68-39) to open the second half, the Trailblazers were able to cut it down to as low as 20 (72-52) after a three-point play by Schenck with 4:54 to play.

Five of the final six points on the night for the Trailblazers came from Gonsalves, who hit a three-pointer at the buzzer to tie the Utah Tech career mark for most three pointers made.
