(St. George, Utah - Nov. 26, 2024) - Utah Tech softball head coach Randy Simkins announced the signing of six future Trailblazers for the 2026 season on Tuesday afternoon.

The 2025-26 incoming freshman class includes Delaney Wright (Pitcher / Boise, Idaho / Timberline HS / Idaho Intensity), Kamryn Caldwell (Infield / Highland, Calif. / Citrus Valley HS / PowerSurge Walling), Naya Taylor (Catcher / Cypress, Calif. / Cypress HS / Empire Fastpitch Ensey), Lauren Jones (Infield / Fresno, Calif. / Edison HS / OC Batbusters Stith Maroon), Abby Davidson (Outfield / Auburn, Calif. / Del Oro HS / Universal Macias), and Summer Sanderson (Catcher / Riverside, Calif. / Grand Terrace HS / Cal Lite Flores).

Delaney Wright (Pitcher / Boise, Idaho / Timberline HS / Idaho Intensity)
Wright, a four-year varsity letter winner at Timberline High School, has had an impressive career with accolades such as the IHSAA Scholastic Award and multiple 5A All-State honors.

Her ability to both hit and pitch at a high level, made her a standout on both her high school and travel teams. As a junior, she was named 5A SIC Conference First Team Pitcher and 5A All-State First Team Pitcher.

"Delaney is a very strong player who has proven to be one of the best lefty pitchers and power hitters in her class.  We look forward to what she will bring to our team in both of those areas," Simkins said.

Kamryn Caldwell (Infield / Highland, Calif. / Citrus Valley HS / PowerSurge Walling)
Caldwell hails from Citrus Valley High School in California, where her versatility has made her a valuable asset in both infield and outfield positions.

She is a four-year varsity letter winner and has been recognized in the Citrus Belt League as a First Team and Honorable Mention player. Her athleticism and versatility are expected to enhance Utah Tech's defensive lineup.

"Kamryn is a high energy kid who never stops hustling.  That type of motor is what we're always looking for from someone who plays a middle infield position for us.  She also has shown very good power.  Excited to watch her grow and develop during her time here in St George," Simkins said.

Naya Taylor (Catcher / Cypress, Calif. / Cypress HS / Empire Fastpitch Ensey)
Taylor, a three-year varsity starter from Cypress High School, brings a wealth of experience behind the plate.

Known for her strong defensive skills, she was a key contributor to her team's Empire League Championship in 2023 and received consecutive Defensive Player of the Year awards in her sophomore and junior seasons.

Taylor's quick reactions and game awareness make her a powerful addition as a catcher.

"Naya is definitely the kid who as we all say 'just keeps getting better each time I watch her'. Her strong arm behind the plate helps neutralize the running game of her opponents.  Her ability to hit good pitching will also help her compete for time in our line-up," Simkins said.

Lauren Jones (Infield / Fresno, Calif. / Edison HS / OC Batbusters Stith Maroon)
Jones, an all-around athlete from Edison High School, has made her mark with awards for both offense and defense.

She was named to the 1st Team All-CMAC as a sophomore and 2nd Team All-CMAC as a junior, showcasing her ability to perform consistently in multiple roles. Jones will add flexibility and depth to the Trailblazers' roster.

"Lauren is a smooth fielding shortstop who'll help replace the middle infielders that we'll be graduating this spring.  She's another kid who plays with a lot of energy, understands the game, has been well coached and will solidify us up the middle," Simkins said.

Abby Davidson (Outfield / Auburn, Calif. / Del Oro HS / Universal Macias)
Davidson, who has played a pivotal role for Del Oro High School, is known for her speed and how hard she plays the game.

A key player in the 2021-2022 Sac-Joaquin II Section Championship, she has been named to the Sierra Foothill League All League First Team in both her sophomore and junior years. Her speed and power at the plate will be an asset for the Trailblazers.

"From the first time you watch Abby play, you notice that she just doesn't ever take a play off.  Always playing hard, hustling and grinding to win each pitch.  We love that about Abby.  She'll push her teammates to play harder because of that," Simkins said.

Summer Sanderson (Catcher / Riverside, Calif. / Grand Terrace HS / Cal Lite Flores)
Sanderson, a three-time All-Sunkist League player from Grand Terrace High School, has established herself as a top-tier catcher.

She has contributed to her team's achievements, including two league championships and a Division II CIF finalist finish in 2023.

In 2024, Sanderson earned Cal High Sports All-State Softball recognition, underscoring her talent and dedication.

"Summer is a very good catcher with a strong arm and that's comfortable being a leader behind the plate.  She can also play other defensive positions which gives us flexibility how we can use her skill set.  I've watched her for a long time and she's shown constant improvement over the years.  We know will continue when she gets here in our program," Simkins said.

Simkins on the 2025 signing class
"We are really excited about our 2025 recruiting class.  They are an amazing group of young ladies, from great families, that'll represent our program and university extremely well both on and off the field!"
