(Stephenville, Texas - May 7, 2026) - The Trailblazers battled tough on Thursday afternoon falling 5-2 to Tarleton State in the WAC Tournament quarterfinals at the Tarleton Softball Complex.
Utah Tech (19-33) will face No. 5 seed Southern Utah in an elimination contest on Thursday night at 6 p.m. MT.
The Trailblazers were held to one hit in the contest, a two-run home run by
Baylee Howley in the fourth inning, but were able to reach base four other times.
Drew McKown and
Lakaiya-Braessia Kahahawai-Kekona each drew a walk while
Sadie Phillips reached base on a fielder's choice &
Maka Sonognini got on base after a Texan throwing error.
In the circle,
Sauren Garton tossed her seventh complete game of the season throwing six innings allowing six hits, five runs, three walks and struck out a pair.
How It Happened
The Texans jumped on the scoreboard first with a pair of runs in the first inning on an RBI double and a fielding error by the Trailblazers for a quick 2-0 lead.
Three more runs came across for the Texans in the third inning scoring on another Trailblazer fielding blunder, an RBI single and a bases-loaded walk.
The Trailblazers broke up the Texans' shutout bid with Howley's two-run home run in the fourth, but that was all the runs they could muster to drop the contest.
