Utah Tech women's soccer had its comeback bid come up short as the Trailblazers fell to Utah Valley 4-3 on Thursday night at Greater Zion Stadium.
Following a quiet first 30 minutes of play, the Wolverines struck first as freshman Sarah Oyler found the back of the net after a cross from sophomore Sadie Beardall was settled by senior Quincy Bonds in the 34th minute.
Utah Valley would extend its lead six minutes into the second half as senior Faith Webber scored on the first touch off an assist by junior Ruby Hladek in the 52nd minute.
UVU went up by three goals 15 minutes later when redshirt junior Haley Funn scored with an assist by Beardall off a corner kick in the 68th minute.Â
Utah Tech got on the board in the 77th minute when freshman
Lataya Brost beat graduate goalkeeper CJ Graham for UT's first goal of the night.
The Wolverines answered less than five minutes later as Beardall scored on a header off an assist by senior Qunicy Bonds.Â
The Trailblazers continued to battle as junior
Lacy Fox notched her sixth goal of the season with Brost picking up her third point of the night on a helper in the 83rd minute.
Brost scored a brace four minutes late as she hit a long shot to get past Graham after junior
Cadie Young disrupted a Wolverine clear.
Utah Valley (8-4-1, 2-0-0 WAC) outshot UT 19-11 with an advantage of 9-7 in shots on goal. Trailblazer keeper
Brianna Frey totaled five saves, one more than Graham.
Offensively, Brost led Utah Tech with five points on her two goals and lone assist. Brost also led the Trailblazers with four shots and three shots on goal.Â
