LAST TIME OUT
Utah Tech women's soccer came up short against California Baptist 1-0 on senior day in its regular-season home finale on Saturday night at Greater Zion Stadium. CBU scored the game's only goal in the 37th minute on a header by junior Taylor Held that found the bottom left of the net off a free kick by redshirt junior Morgan Witz. In the 39th minute, junior Kyah Le hit a shot to the upper-middle part of the net, but Lancer goalkeeper Mikayla O'Brien stood in the way. Just before halftime, senior Emily Garbett fired the ball to the upper-left corner but again O'Brien stopped the shot, recording her fifth save in the 45th minute. Both defenses locked down in the second half as neither offense could muster a shot on goal. In the final 45 minutes, the UT defense kept CBU to just three shots while Utah Tech got off seven. In the final 20 minutes, Garbett and junior Lacy Fox both got off long shots, but both missed just high as the Lancers were able to keep the Trailblazers off the board. Utah Tech outshot CBU 14-11 with a 5-4 advantage for UT in shots on goal. California Baptist committed more fouls, 17-12, and earned more saves as O'Brien finished with five saves on the night, while Trailblazer goalie Brianna Frey totaled three.
