UT Women's Soccer Falls to Montana

Trailblazers back in action against Gonzaga on Sunday.

(Spokane, Wash. – Aug. 31, 2023) Trailblazer women's soccer was in action Thursday night, falling 4-0 to the Montana Grizzlies in neutral site game played on the campus of Gonzaga University.

McKinley Barney made a return to the starting eleven as both teams found opportunities early. After an Emily Garbett shot forced a save in the 22nd minute, Montana held a slight advantage in shots at 3-2; the Grizzlies would find a breakthrough with a 30th minute goal. Neither team would score the rest of the half and the Trailblazers were down at the break.

Though UT would create chances in the second half – including a 50th minute Brynlee Rider shot – Montana found the net three times to take a 4-0 victory.

Utah Tech finished with eight shots, drawing 12 Grizzly fouls and taking four corner kicks. Brianna Frey tied a career high with seven saves as Lacy Fox's four shots led all Trailblazers.
