(Spokane, Wash. – Aug. 31, 2023) Trailblazer women's soccer was in action Thursday night, falling 4-0 to the Montana Grizzlies in neutral site game played on the campus of Gonzaga University.
McKinley Barney made a return to the starting eleven as both teams found opportunities early. After an
Emily Garbett shot forced a save in the 22
nd minute, Montana held a slight advantage in shots at 3-2; the Grizzlies would find a breakthrough with a 30
th minute goal. Neither team would score the rest of the half and the Trailblazers were down at the break.
Though UT would create chances in the second half – including a 50
th minute
Brynlee Rider shot – Montana found the net three times to take a 4-0 victory.
Utah Tech finished with eight shots, drawing 12 Grizzly fouls and taking four corner kicks.
Brianna Frey tied a career high with seven saves as
Lacy Fox's four shots led all Trailblazers.
UT women's soccer is back in action on Sunday, facing Gonzaga.
