(Arlington, Texas – Aug. 10, 2023) Karli Heaton, a junior forward for the Utah Tech women's soccer team, was named as a Preseason All-Conference selection, the league office announced on Thursday.
 
Heaton was the team's leading scorer with five goals last season, adding two assists for a team-high 12 points on a team that won 10 games for the first time in its Division-I era. For her performances, she was named Second Team All-WAC after the completion of the 2023 season.
 
The Highland, Utah, native also led the team in shots (30) and shots on goal (19), and scored both goals in a 2-0 victory over Stephen F. Austin on Sept. 16. Her four game-winning goals was also the fourth-most among WAC attackers.
 
As part of the release, the conference also announced this year's preseason coaches' poll, with head coach Lexi Brown's Trailblazers placing fifth with 44 points. Utah Tech was 12 points behind fourth-ranked California Baptist (56 points) and three ahead of sixth-ranked Stephen F. Austin (41 points).
 
Trailblazer women's soccer will begin its 2023 campaign with road contests at South Dakota (Aug. 17, 5 p.m.) and Omaha (Aug. 20, 12 p.m.) before the home opener against Idaho at 7 p.m. on Aug. 24.
