(Riverside, CA - Aug 27, 2026) – Utah Tech women's soccer shuts out UC Riverside, 1-0, to earn its first road victory of the 2026 season.
The Trailblazers (2-2-1) came out the gate with pressure, getting off four shots in the first seven minutes. Two shots by
Ella Rusick and
Lexi Nelson were on target, but the UC Riverside (1-3-0) goalkeeper made the stops.
Both teams traded scoring opportunities in the first half, but headed into the locker rooms scoreless. Utah Tech outshot UC Riverside 9-7 in the first 45 minutes, with UT also holding the advantage in shots on goal at 5-2.
Just how they started the first half, the Trailblazers put the pressure on the Highlander defense yet again. This time, UT was able to break through as redshirt junior forward,
Lataya Brost, put the Trailblazers in front and broke the scoreless tie with her first goal of the year. Both
Channing Wuest and
Ella Rusick were credited with assists on the play.
The Trailblazers continued to control the pace and possession, getting four more shots off in the second half and holding UCR without a shot recorded in the second half. In doing so, UT held on for their first shutout win of the 2026 season.
Salt Lake CC transfer goalie,
Elle Rafajko, recorded her first D-1 shutout, making two saves on the night.
