Tennis closes weekend with loss at Utah State

Utah Tech women's tennis had some close sets but was unable to pull out any points and fell 7-0 against Utah State on Sunday morning.

In doubles play all three sets were able to keep their matches close. Rachel Mellor and Annemiek Sterk played to a 6-3 loss at the No. 1 spot and Raquel Roshak and Cami Oyama played to a 6-3 loss in the No. 3 spot. Ya-Chi Hsu and Adithi Venkatakrishnan played all the way to a tiebreak but lost on the tiebreak point.

There were a lot of close matches in singles play as well. Alysha Damron came close to a win in her No. 5 singles match, but she lost on the tiebreak set.

Additionally, Roshak in the No. 6 spot forced a tiebreak set after coming back from losing her first set 6-4. She won set two 6-2 before falling 10-6 in the tiebreak set.

Utah Tech is now 0-4 in the 2023 season. The Trailblazers will return home on Friday, February 11th against Idaho. The match will start at 10 a.m. on the Trailblazer tennis courts.
