(Riverside, Calif. – Oct. 28, 2023) - The Utah Tech volleyball team fell in straight sets at California Baptist on Saturday afternoon at Van Dyne Gym.
Utah Tech (8-14, 4-8 WAC) dropped sets, 21-25, 24-26, 17-25 to California Baptist (14-9, 7-5 WAC). Freshman outside hitter 
Adee Butler led the Trailblazers in kills for a second-straight match finishing with 12 while hitting .500 adding four digs, a service ace and a block assist.
Sophomore setter 
Meg Carter finished with a career-high 23 assists and sophomore 
Kennedi Knudsen added nine kills, six digs and a pair of service aces.
The beginning of the opening set went back-and-forth at the start before a 5-0 run for the Blazers midway through set gave Utah Tech an 18-17 lead after a kill by 
Elise Porter. With back-to-back kills by Butler and Knudsen tying the set at 21, the Lancers put the set away tallying the final four points of the frame.
The second set saw the Trailblazers get out to a hot start leading 14-9 with a kill by 
Sydney Reese. A 5-0 run for CBU locked up the set at 14 with a 9-6 run for the Blazers putting the visitors ahead 23-20. After four straight points for the Lancers put them on the verge of set point, a kill by Reese tied up the set at 24, but the final two points of the set went to CBU with a pair of kills.

Taylor Snow and a service ace by 
Mya Laufiso tied the third set at 11, but a 9-1 run for the Lancers pushed CBU up 20-12 and they went on to win the set by that margin.
The Trailblazers led the Lancers in kills (48-44) and assists (45-43) with CBU taking the lead in blocks (5-2), service aces (8-5) & digs (35-33).
Utah Tech returns home for Senior Night on Thursday hosting UTRGV (14-11, 8-4 WAC) at 6 p.m. at Burns Arena where the Trailblazers will honor a pair of seniors in 
Taela Laufiso and 
Emma Ricks.
