The Utah Tech University Athletic Department combined to post a 3.30 grade point average among its 15 varsity sports for the 2022 fall semester. The fall semester GPA also marked the 11
th-straight semester and the 15th semester in the last 18 overall that Trailblazer student-athletes combined to earn at least a 3.00 GPA.
Â
In all, 14 of Utah Tech's 15 varsity sports posted at least a 3.00 GPA this past fall, with the women's tennis and volleyball programs leading the way with a department-best 3.68 GPA. Six other programs recorded a 3.5 GPA or higher, including women's basketball (3.61), women's soccer (3.58), women's golf (3.56), women's swimming (3.56), softball (3.55) and women's cross country (3.54). Â

"I am incredibly proud of our student-athletes for their continued commitment to excel in the classroom," said UT Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Ken Beazer. "The ability for our student-athletes to successfully balance both academics and athletics is truly remarkable and it is a testament to that commitment. We thank our incredible faculty, academic support staff and coaches for helping each of them succeed."
Â
This past fall, nearly 64 percent of Utah Tech's 394 student-athletes (252-of-394) recorded at least a 3.2 GPA for eligibility for Western Athletic Conference all-academic honors. Of those 252 student-athletes, 151 Trailblazers carried a 3.75 or higher GPA, with 51 student-athletes posting a perfect 4.0 GPA.Â
Â
In addition, 100 student-athletes were included on the Dean's List, with 77 of those student-athletes making onto the President's List.Â
""Our student-athletes deserve mountains of praise for their efforts in the classroom this fall.  They truly grasp the concept of owning their education and how it translates to a successful future," said Mike Olson, UT Associate Athletics Director for Academic Services and Student-Athlete Welfare. "This fall we saw a record number of students earn Presidential Honors and placed 100 student-athletes on the Dean's List. With over half of our teams earning team GPAs above a 3.5, it is safe to say our student-athletes, coaches and staff see academics as a high priority at Utah Tech University."Â
