Utah Tech men's soccer dropped a 1-0 loss against Santa Clara in the team's 2022 season home opener Monday night.
HOW IT HAPPENED: The Trailblazers started off the night with heavy possession building out of the back. A heavy press from Santa Clara found the Blazers pinned in but able to maintain control of the ball despite an onrushing Bronco attack.
Through the first half the Trailblazers continued steady possession of the ball and limited the Broncos to just two shots.Â
Coming out of the halftime break the match started to open up a bit more for both sides as the match wore on. Despite Utah Tech's best efforts, the Trailblazer defense couldn't sustain more pressure and in the 62nd minute, Santa Clara's Oladayo Thomas found the game winner.
Through the final half hour of play the Trailblazers fought to find an equalizer. Despite having five second half shots, the Blazers were unable to put one in the back of the net. The team allowed just one goal on the night despite being outshot by the Broncos.
Oladayo's goal would be the difference maker in this match as the Trailblazers suffer a 1-0 loss at home.
