Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Utah Tech downs in-state rival Weber State 1-0

Utah Tech women's soccer's is now on a four game winning streak thanks to a 1-0 shutout over Weber State Sunday afternoon.

What Head Coach Molly Rouse said: "Today's team performance marks another step forward in the right direction. We knew coming into this match, against a solid Weber State team, we would have to focus on our mental framework while executing consistently in our objectives. The second game in a weekend is always a grind and today we knew it would take contributions from every single Trailblazer to earn a team result. We are extremely proud of the work this group is putting in on the training ground, as our preparation throughout the week is helping us achieve consistency and execution within the games. We would not be in a position to compete like we have been, without the dedication & commitment we see each week from every player within the program. This was an exciting way for our team to wrap up a strong non-conference schedule, as we head into our opening WAC weekend."

HOW IT HAPPENED: Utah Tech was the first to fire a shot on goal. In the 17th minute Savannah Stauffer fired one off but the Wildcats came away with a save. Weber State was able to get a ball on frame in the 26th minute but Kayla Thompson came away with the save.

It wasn't until the 41st minute that Utah Tech was able to get another shot on goal as Abigail Allard fired one off from outside the 18 but Weber State managed the save and the game sat at 0-0 going into the half.

The second half started off with some fired up intensity. In the 51st minute the Wildcats got a shot on goal but Thompson notched another save.  Lacy Fox was able to put a ball on frame in the 62nd minute but couldn't execute.

Utah Tech started the final 10 minutes of the game off with another save by Thompson. Then later, in the 86th minute, Ella Carmody sent a ball from the defensive third to Karli Nyland who broke through the Wildcats back line for a one-on-one with the keeper. The keeper came out and Nyland snuck one past right into the lower right corner of the net.

Nyland's goal ended up being the game winner and as the clock hit 90 the Trailblazers came away with the win.

STAT BREAKDOWN:  In total Utah Tech had eight shots with five shots on frame. Nyland ended with the game winning goal. Lacy Fox and Brynlee Roberts each had two shots to lead while five different Trailblazers recorded shots on goal.

Kayla Thompson started in goal and played the full 90 for UT and ended the game with five saves.

Weber State ended the game with 10 shots with five on frame. WSU's keepers ended the game with three saves.
