The Utah Tech cross-country teams will head out to Riverside for the UCR Invitational. This will be the Trailblazers' second meet after opening the season at the George Kyte Classic on Sept. 3.

The women's 6K race will open the event at 7:15 a.m. Pacific Time (8:15 a.m. MT), followed by the men's 8K race at 7:50 a.m. PT (8:50 a.m. MT).

ABOUT THE UCR INVITE: Utah Tech will race in Riverside for the first and only time in the 2022 season after completing two races on this course in the 2021 season. The UC Riverside course is mostly flat with a few rolling hills and hard packed dirt with pre-competition watering to reduce dust. It is run through an agricultural operations center which features 100-year-old citrus trees.

LAST TIME OUT: Utah Tech competed in the George Kyte Classic on Sept. 3. The Trailblazer men took home a fourth-place finish, and the Trailblazer women took home third. Headlining the race was junior Grace McLaughlin, who took home a fifth-place finish in the women's 2.5-mile race with a time of 15:44.2.

Three other Trailblazer women placed in the top 20 at the George Kyte Classic, with Kirstin Williams finishing 17th with a 16:49.6, Rylee Jacobson at No. 18 with a 16:59.4 time, and Shakayla Morgan running a 17:06.0 for 20th.

The Trailblazer men posted solid times in the opener as well. Brian Schulz ran the Trailblazer's fastest time of the day with a 14th place 24:34.3, followed by Andrew Allen racing 24:58.9, Connor Baty racing 25:09.4, and Kallen Webster at 25:13.9.

UP NEXT: Utah Tech will head up I-15 for the Southern Utah Color Country Invitational on Oct. 8. The Trailblazers had a good showing at the 2021 edition of this meet when the men took first place, and the women took second. This meet will be the Trailblazers' lone meet in Utah during the 2022 season.
