Dixie State gets swept in double header with Seattle U

Dixie State softball got swept in a double header with Seattle U Friday afternoon. First DSU, fell 2-1 and later fell 3-1. 

GAME ONE
How it happened: The first four innings went scoreless for both teams with only one hit between the two teams. In the top of the fifth inning, Seattle U put up two runs from three hits to take a 2-0 lead. 

The Trailblazers made a surge in the bottom of the seventh to try and salvage a win. Hannah Hughbanks doubled to left center to start things off. Shea Clements then singled to right field for an RBI. 

Dixie State couldn't get any more momentum and ultimately fell with a 2-1 score. 

At the plate: Dixie State ended the game with three hits and one run and one RBI. Madison Duryea, Hughbanks and Clements each recorded hits. 

In the circle: Tyler Denhart pitched a full seven innings and gave up six hits, two runs and three walks. She did record five strikeouts in the game.  

GAME TWO
How it happened: The Redhawks wasted no time in getting on the board in the second game. In the first inning, Seattle U put up three runs from three hits. 

In the bottom of the second inning, Dixie State got on the board thanks to a double from Rachel Campbell for an RBI. Despite having a runner in scoring position the Blazers couldn't get any more runs as the inning concluded. 

The rest of the game went scoreless for both teams and Seattle walked away with the 3-1 win over Dixie State. 
 
At the plate:  Dixie State ended the game with one run from five hits with five different Blazers each recording hits. 

In the circle: Kate Dolinski pitched a complete seven innings for DSU and gave up five hits, three runs, and two walks. She did record three strikeouts.

Up Next: Dixie State is now 19-31 overall on the season and sit 8-15 in WAC play. The Trailblazers will take on Seattle U in the final game of the season tomorrow with first pitch at noon. DSU will honor its two seniors, Carissa Burgess and Kasey Crawford
