Dixie State head men's basketball coach Jon Judkins announced on Wednesday the signing of Snow College standout small forward Hagen Wright to a National Letter of Intent to play for the Trailblazer program for the upcoming 2022-23 seasmbb_hagennlion.

"We are very excited to welcome Hagen to our Trailblazer family," Coach Judkins said. "Hagen is a tough, skilled, and athletic competitor who fits our culture here."

Wright (6-5; Payson, Utah) played one season for the Badgers in 2021-22, for whom he earned second team all-Scenic West Athletic Conference (SWAC) and Region 18 all-tournament team honors. He led the SWAC in 3-point percentage (45-of-101, .446) and finished the year as the conference's third-leading scorer at 15.5 ppg.

The sophomore-to-be also ranked in the conference's top-15 in free throw percentage (5th - .820), 3FG per game (7th – 1.9 3fgm), rebounding (12th, 5.25 rpg), and field goal percentage (t-14th, .529). Wright started in 33 of 34 games at Snow last season and scored in double figures in 28 of those outings.

Wright poured in 20 or more points 10 times, highlighted by consecutive 27-point nights in home wins over Community Christian (113-75; 1/8/22) and Southern Nevada (86-72, 1/13/22), and helped lead Snow to a 26-8 overall record and a No. 12 ranking in the final NJCAA Division I poll.

"Hagen is great shooter and his ability to space the floor as a shooter and to attack the rim with his athleticism will help us to continue to improve and become a more complete team," Judkins noted. "He plays with a high motor and rebounds very well at his position. Besides being a great player and excellent student, he is an even better person and we are grateful to have Hagen and his great wife Addi join our program."

Wright prepped at Payson High School, where he garnered 2018 Salt Lake Tribune Utah 4A second team all-state honors as a senior after averaging 18.4 points and 3.5 rebounds, and helped lead the Lions to state quarterfinal appearance.

Dixie State wrapped up its second season of NCAA Division I play with a 13-18 overall record, five wins more than the Blazers' posted in their D-I debut campaign last year. DSU finished with a 10-6 record inside the Burns Arena, and wound up 6-12 in WAC play, which was good for 10th place in the conference standings.

Hagen Wright on why he chose Dixie State: "I chose Dixie State because I was looking for a place that would feel family centered and that I could fit in well with the coaches and the program. As soon as I visited campus and saw what it was all about, I instantly felt like this was the place for me."
