Dixie State women's basketball couldn't hang with WAC leader Stephen F. Austin Saturday afternoon and fell 81-54.
How it happened: Emily Isaacson started the game off with a made three pointer. Later in the first quarter SFA went on a 7-0 run Dixie State was able to bring the score within one point with two minutes remaining but the Lumberjacks pushed on for a 23-15 lead at the end of the first.
To start the second quarter, Dixie State went on a 6-2 run sparked by a turn around jumper by Shaniajah Davison. However over the course of the final five minutes of the half, SFA went on a 14-4 run. The Trailblazers trailed 43-30 at halftime.
The Lumberjacks continued to charge in the third quarter pushing their lead to 29 points.
The Trailblazers powered through the fourth quarter but could never catch the Lumberjacks and DSU came away with a 81-54 loss.
Leaders: Dixie State was led by Isaacson who each dropped 18 points.
Breaunna Gillen also had double digit scoring with 12 points.
Davison led with seven rebounds and had the high of four assists.
Comparison: Dixie State ended the game shooting 40 percent from the field, 30 percent from the three and 83 percent from the free throw line. The Trailblazers totaled 35 rebounds, nine assists, six steals and 29 turnovers.
Stephen F. Austin shot 38 percent from the field, 36 percent from the three and 66 percent from the free throw line. The Lumberjacks ended the game with 46 rebounds, 14 assists, 17 steals and 11 turnovers.
Notes to Know: DSU is now 7-14 overall on the season and sit at 3-7 in WAC play.
