Blazers drop double header at Easton Classic

Dixie State had a rough go Friday in the Easton Classic falling to both Cal and tournament host Cal State Fullerton.

GAME ONE
How it happened: Hannah Hughbanks started things off for the Trailblazers with a double to left center in the first inning. Laura Lockard then drew a walk to put two runners on base. Oaklee Trapp then doubled to right center for two RBIs to put DSU up 2-0.

In the bottom of the first, Cal was able to get five runs from three hits to take a 5-2 lead. The second inning went scoreless for both teams. In the bottom of the third Cal was able to get three more runs boosting their lead to 8-2.

In the fourth inning, Crawford hit one deep over the right field fence for a two run shot. After four complete innings DSU trailed 8-4. In the top of the fifth, Lauren Almeida singled for an RBI to narrow the score yet again.  Trapp started the seventh off with a single. Crawford followed that with a double to put two runners in scoring position. Almeida then singled to center field for two RBIs. Despite having a runner on, Dixie State wasn't able to get any more runs and fell 12-7.

At the plate: Crawford went 4-4 at the plate with two runs and two RBIs to lead the Blazers. Almeida went 3-4 at the plate with three RBIs. In total, Dixie racked up an impressive 13 hits from 33 at bats.

After three complete innings the score stood at 13-0.

The fourth and fifth innings went scoreless for both teams and the Titans ended the game after five.

At The Plate: Hannah Hughbanks and Rachel Campbell were the only two Trailblazers to record a hit against the Titans.
