Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Blazers comeback for 73-70 win over Falcons

Utah Tech women's basketball came from behind to take a 73-70 win over Air Force Saturday afternoon.

What head coach JD Gustin said: "Really good road win for us today. After struggling in the first half to take care of the ball, we settled in and turned it over just four times in the second half and that was a big key to the game. We also guarded them differently in the game as opposed to how we prepped, I was impressed with our players on how they responded to that challenge.
Air Force is traditionally a tough place to play and hopefully this builds confidence for us as we compete on the road in the WAC."

How it happened:  Breaunna Gillen took it to the hoop for a driving layup to put the Trailblazers on the board first. With two minutes left in the first quarter, Air Force went on an 8-0 run to take a 26-16 lead. With just one second on the clock, Macie Warren fired off a three pointer at the buzzer to cut the lead down to seven.

Utah Tech held Air Force to a 5:30 scoring drought in the second quarter and were able to cut the score deficit to just three. The Falcons we're able to get four more points before the half ended and the Trailblazers trailed 38-31.

As the third quarter came to and UT had a narrow one point lead but the Falcons made a driving layup to take a 52-51 lead going into the final quarter.

The battle was on in the final quarter of play. Air Force jumped out to a five point lead but Utah Tech came back and tied it up. It was neck and neck and came down to the final two minutes  of play. Air Force had a four point lead, Warren made a driving layup to bring the score within two.

With just under a minute left to play, Warren executed another driving layup to tie the game and drew the foul to be placed on the free throw line. Warren made her free throw to execute the three point play to give UT the lead with 50 seconds left.

The Trailblazers were able to get a big defensive stop on the other end of the court before Breaunna Gillen was fouled, placing her on the free throw line. Gillen drained both her free throws to give UT a three point lead.
