Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Trailblazer men's soccer shutout by CBU Lancers

Utah Tech men's soccer was shutout by the California Baptist Lancers 4-0 on Sunday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED: Utah Tech men's soccer started out the match dealing with a heavy press from the Lancers. CBU was able to find three shots in the opening 10 minutes of play, the third of which resulted in the Lancers' opening goal.

After giving up the early goal the Trailblazer rebounded well and sustained the pressure for the rest of the first half. The Trailblazers had four shots in the first half, two from Dunes Nielsen that forced CBU's sophomore goalkeeper Nolan Premack into two saves to keep the lead for the Lancers.

At the half the Trailblazers were still looking to find a comeback from being down 1-0.

Outside of the halftime break, Guglielmo Bianchi nearly had the opening goal for the Trailblazers. Taylor Rogers fed him a ball as he ran towards the 18 yard-box. Bianchi took a touch to try and go around a defender but his shot was blocked by the Lancer backline and went out of play.

California Baptist was able to put away two quick foals in the 61st and 65th minute to extend their lead to three.

The Lancer attack continued to advance and in the 84th minute they put a fourth goal in the back of the net to close out the game and take home the 4-0 win.

STAT BREAKDOWN:  The Trailblazers had six shots with three on goal. Dunes Nielsen led the team with two shots and Guglielmo Bianchi, Kyle Walbruch, Aby Gomez and Larsen Rogers each had one.

Stockton Short started and played the full 90 minutes in goal, making seven saves and allowing four goals.

California Baptist ended the match with 29 shots, having 12 on goal. Their goalkeeper made three saves.

NOTES TO KNOW: The Trailblazers now have a 3-12-2 record on the season and have a 1-5-2 record in WAC play. The Blazers have scored eight goals this season and have two shutouts.

Two Trailblazers were shown yellow in this match, Gavin Coe and Anthony Godinez.
