Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Trailblazers fall 3-0 to Air Force

Utah Tech men's soccer suffered a 3-0 home loss in a Sunday matchup with the Air Force Falcons.

HOW IT HAPPENED: Air Force was able to get out on the front foot in the opening 10 minutes of the match. Putting away a goal in the 6th minute of play helped the Falcons to find a rhythm quickly and forced the Trailblazers to try and come back from the beginning of the match.

Through the rest of the first half after the opening goal, Utah Tech continued to fight to find the equalizer. The Trailblazers were able to get two good looks in the opening first half from Taylor Rogers and Jimi Villasenor, but neither found their way into the back of the net.

In the 66th minute the Falcons added another to their goal tally, doubling their advantage. Some offensive-minded substitutions found a spark for the Trailblazers but they were still unable to capitalize and find a goal on the day.

With just six minutes to play the Falcons tacked on another goal. At the end of 90 minutes the Trailblazers suffered a 3-0 loss inside Greater Zion Stadium.

STAT BREAKDOWN:  The Trailblazers had four shots with three on goal. Taylor Rogers had two shots and Jimi Villasenor and Carlos Vargas each had one.

Jacob Zimmerman started in goal and played the full 90 minutes making two saves.

Air Force ended the game with 11 shots, five on frame, three goals and two assists. The Falcons ended the game with just three saves.

NOTES TO KNOW: Utah Tech now has a 3-7-0 record overall on the season. The Trailblazers are 1-1-0 in WAC play.

UP NEXT: The Trailblazers will head back out on the road for a pair of Texas matchups, facing UTRGV on Friday, Oct. 7 and Houston Christian on Sunday, Oct. 9. The Trailblazers will then return home for matches versus Seattle and San Jose State.
