Utah Tech men's soccer suffered a heartbreaking 2-1 home loss against Seattle U on Friday night.
HOW IT HAPPENED: The Trailblazers started the match strong playing high tempo and pressing the Seattle backline.
In the ninth minute Traedon Chamberlain subbed off with an injury and Harrison Shaw replaced him.
Taylor Rogers nearly found the opening goal when he hit a shot off the crossbar in the 15th minute. This started a slew of chances from the Trailblazers that ultimately culminated in the opening goal.
In the 38th minute of play Dunes Nielsen slalomed his way around three defenders to slide a ball off to an onrushing Kyle Walbruch. Walbruch slid home the shot for his first goal of the season.
The Trailblazers headed to the halftime break holding the 1-0 lead.
In the second half the Trailblazers pushed for a goal in the early going of the second half but in the 65th minute the Redhawks were able to capitalize. Off a long-distance shot Richard Bedats put his shot in the back of the net.
12 minutes later Bedats put in another one for his brace on the night. He would earn the game-winner for the Redhawks. At the end of 90 minutes the Trailblazers suffered a 2-1 loss.
STAT BREAKDOWN: The Trailblazers had 13 shots with three on goal.
Guglielmo Bianchi and
Niko Shumov led the team with two shots.
Stockton Short started and played the full 90 minutes in goal, making six saves and allowing two goals.
Seattle ended the match with 15 shots, having nine on goal. The team was shown two yellow cards, and their goalkeeper made two saves.
NOTES TO KNOW: The Trailblazers now have a 3-8-2 record on the season and have a 1-2-2 record in WAC play. The Blazers have scored nine goals this season and have two shutouts.
Only one Trailblazer was shown yellow in this match, Raul Ruiz in the 80th minute of play.
UP NEXT: The Trailblazers will round out the weekend against the Spartans on Oct. 16 at 1:30 pm. The team will then head out on the road for a three-game road trip starting with a visit to Incarnate Word on Oct. 22 at 5:30 p.m.
