Dixie State women's basketball fell to Lamar 75-65 Thursday evening.
How it Happened: Dixie State was the first to get on the board as Macie Warren sunk a three pointer with 9:21 on the clock. The two teams matched point for point the rest of the quarter and DSU had a narrow 11-10 lead.
In the second quarter Lamar controlled the pace and went on a 7-0 run during the final two minutes of the half. The Trailblazers hung tight and managed to trail by just three points going into half time.
DSU was outscored 24-16 in the third quarter and Lamar had a 60-49 lead over DSU.
The Trailblazers started the fourth quarter on a 5-0 run thanks to a made three by Emily Isaacson and a pair of free throws by Shanaijah Davison. Despite maintaining the momentum in the fourth quarter, the Trailblazers couldn't recapture the lead and fell 75-65.
Leaders: Dixie State was led by Davison who scored 18 points had five rebounds and seven assists. Isaacson and Warren each had 11 points to add to DSU's offensive efforts.
Comparison: Dixie State ended the game shooting 47 percent from the field, 41 percent from the three and 83 percent from the free throw line. The Trailblazers totaled 32 rebounds, 18 assists, six steals and 14 turnovers.
The Trailblazers had 13 fast break points, 24 in the paint and five second chance points. The Cardinals had four fast break points, 24 in the paint and 21 on second chances.
Lamar shot 43 percent from the field, 43 percent from the three and 64 percent from the free throw line. The Cardinals ended the game with 35 rebounds, 18 assists, seven steals and eight turnovers.
Notes to Know: DSU is now 6-11 overall on the season and 2-4 in WAC play.
