Dixie State University Athletics officially unveiled its new Sports Medicine Facility in a special dedication and ribbon (or athletic tape) cutting ceremony on Thursday. In addition to the ceremony, the event also featured an open house and tours, along with a special luncheon.

"This facility is a game changer for the care and treatment of our student-athletes," said
Kelby Hofheins, DSU Assistant Athletics Director for Sports Medicine and Head Athletic Trainer. "We arguably have now one of the best on-campus sports medicine centers around.
"T

he ease and convenience now available to our student-athletes will allow them to get back to sport quickly and safely," Hofheins added. "This facility is outfitted with the best available equipment for sports medicine. I am most excited for our student-athletes to get the care they deserve."
Located just south of the Burns Arena in front of the north end of Greater Zion Stadium, the new 10,000-plus square foot facility, in partnership with Intermountain Healthcare, features 17 treatment tables, along with five taping stations, rehabilitation space with the latest in equipment and tools, and a state-of-the-art x-ray system for quick and early diagnosis. The building also houses three advanced therapy pools, including an in-ground under water treadmill that allows for early therapy for return to sport.
In addition, the facility has office space for Dixie State's 10 certified athletic trainers and a full physician suite with three exam rooms, including a procedure room for sut

ure and casting, along with other immediate treatment services. The suite also features a full-time sports psychology office to help meet the mental health needs of Trailblazer student-athletes.Â
"We have a full physician clinic with sports psychology available, along with the ability to do everything from exams and x-ray, to treatment and rehab in one location," noted Hofheins. "Our treatment area is able to be utilized for everything from post-surgery rehab and recovery, to a minor orthopedic injury, all of which can be done in the heart of our athletic facilities on campus.
"All this wouldn't be possible without the tremendous clinicians who work here. They are the best around and we now have a facility to match it."
