Blazers fall 5-1 to Lopes

Box Score The Dixie State men's soccer team struggled against Grand Canyon University Friday night and the Blazers came away with a 5-1 loss.

With the loss, DSU now sits at a 2-5-0 overall and WAC record.

Grand Canyon began the first half with a goal in the 18th minute of action. Just ten minutes later, in the 27th minute GCU put in another goal to take a 2-0 lead.

In the 40th minute the Trailblazers drew a penalty kick and Idirs Alabi sank it to put Dixie on the board and trailing 2-1 at half.

Grand Canyon later scored back-to-back goals in the 62nd and 64th minutes to take a 4-1 lead. Later in the 71st minute, the Lopes scored for the fifth time.

GCU outshot DSU 17-10. Dixie State had four shots on goal while Grand Canyon had nine.

The Trailblazers will return home March 31st to host UNLV at 5:00 p.m. before hitting the road for the final time this season to play UTRGV on April 5.
