Dixie State's (5-5/4-5 WAC) hopes of extending its winning streak to three games was stopped short Monday night at the hands of Seattle University.  The Redhawks took game one of the two-game series in straight sets.
 
Dixie State kept pace with the Redhawks for most of the first set, but Seattle U slowly started to creep away and garnered an 18-12 lead.  Dixie State crawled back and eventually cut the deficit down to 24-23, but couldn't get over the hump and lost set one 25-23.
 
Set two saw Dixie State jump out to an early 13-7 lead.  Seattle U would never let go of the rope though and began to chip away at the lead.  The Redhawks would take their first lead of the set at 23-22 as part of a 7-0 run that resulted in a 25-22 victory in the second set.
 
Set three was never in doubt for the Redhawks as they led wire-to-wire to claim the victory.  The biggest lead Seattle U had over the Trailblazers was a 20-11 one, which Dixie State promptly cut in to with a 4-0 run, but it was not enough as Seattle U cruised to a decisive 25-17 win to earn its first win of the season.
 
Lauolive Tonga paced Dixie State offensively with nine kills in the match.  Kate Hardy added eight kills while leading the Trailblazers in hitting percentage at .400.  Megan Treanor had eight assists, while Rebekah Farris seven digs to lead Dixie State defensively.  Dixie State was held in check offensively all night as it only converted 26 kills, the lowest such total all season and a .089 hitting percentage throughout the match.
