Dixie State wrapped up its NCAA debut season with three more school records and one race medal on the final day of the 2021 Western Athletic Conference Women's Swimming Championships on Saturday inside the DSU HPC Pool.
Through four days of the swimming competition, DSU remained in seventh place with 250 points, 85 points ahead of eighth place Seattle U (165 pts). Northern Arizona holds a 572.5-564 lead on second place New Mexico State, while Northern Colorado (497.5 pts) in third heading into the diving portion of the championships, which will be held next weekend in Flagstaff, Ariz.
The Trailblazers earned their third medal of the meet in the 200-yard breaststroke when freshman
Kathryn Carter won silver with a school record-breaking time of 2:16.40. DSU's second school record performance, one of eight combined record on the weekend overall, came in the 200 fly when sophomore
Chloe Partsch placed 11
th-overall with a time of 2:09.11.
Other performances of note include freshman
Gabbie Adams breaking the school 200 back record time with a 17
th-place 2:04.05, while sophomore
Kyrie Sutherland swam the second-fastest 100 free time at DSU with a 10
th-place 51.67, and fellow sophomore
Jessica Schab placed 16
th-overall in the 1,650 free at 17:52.78 (#6 all-time at DSU).
Dixie State closed the meet with the fourth-fastest 400 free relay time in program history when the team of Carter, freshman
Akalia Bostock, sophomore
Claire Kieffer and Sutherland combined to place seventh at 3:30.00.
