Game Recap: Men's Soccer | | Megan Webb

Trailblazers drop 4-0 result in Seattle

Trailblazer men's soccer suffered a 4-0 loss to Seattle on Sunday after a late game disaster found the Redhawks scoring twice in the final five minutes of the match.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
The opening 15 minutes of play was good from Dixie State. Ethan Bell earned the team a shot and from the start of this one the Trailblazers were playing organized and solid. The Redhawks were testing goalkeeper Jakob Moore early, though. After five shots in the opening 20 minutes of the game, one finally snuck by Moore.

After giving up the first goal, the Trailblazers made a few subs to recover and try a different game plan but it took just ten more minutes for Seattle to find their second goal. After Levonte Johnson danced his way through the Trailblazers 18 and made the key pass to James Morris, Morris slid the ball past Moore at the far post to give the Redhawks the second goal.

The game went to halftime at a score of 2-0.

Out of the halftime break things looked better for the Trailblazers, but the Redhawks were simply the better team today. DSU was able to handle the pressure for most of the second half and kept Seattle from finding their third goal until the 86th minute.

After finding their third goal the Redhawks answered with a fourth. Despite goalkeeper Jakob Moore's best efforts he was unable to stop the Redhawks attack today and the Trailblazers ultimatley fell 4-0 in Seattle.

STAT BREAKDOWN: Moore had six saves in this match. He had two in the first half and four in the second. The Redhawks recorded 23 shots in this game.

DSU had just one shot in this match from Ethan Bell in the first half.

NOTES TO KNOW: Dixie State is now 1-9-0 overall on the season.

The team has just eight games remaining in its 2021 season. With four matches on the road and four at home, the Trailblazers have seven more conference games of those eight games.

UP NEXT: The Trailblazers will return home for a two game weekend starting Friday Oct. 8 versus Chicago State and rounding out the weekend on Oct. 10 against Houston Baptist.
