Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Blazers fall 2-1 to Lancers

Trailblazers women soccer fell 2-1 to California Baptist Sunday afternoon.

WHAT HEAD COACH MOLLY ROUSE SAID: "Today wraps up our first round of WAC play and we could not have asked for a better opponent. CBU was well organized and limited our attack to few chances. Additionally, they created several quality opportunities, which provided our team the chance to focus on defensive execution in and around our 18 yard box. After today, we believe we have gathered enough information on each team to make tactical adjustments, which will hopefully help us be even more competitive in the second round of WAC play. We are proud of the grit and commitment the group has had this season, and we are looking forward to utilizing what we have learned in another chance to compete against each west division WAC opponent starting next Saturday with UVU."

HOW IT HAPPENED: The first half went scoreless for both teams however the second half started off with all the action.

In the 47th minute, Whitley Griffiths was able to score a goal to put the Trailblazers on the board. California Baptist wasted no time and answered with a goal in the 48th minute and then a second goal in the 52nd minute.

Dixie State had one more shot on goal in the second half to try and tie things up but couldn't execute. The game ended and CBU walked off the field with a 2-1 win.

STAT BREAKDOWN:  Dixie State had three different Blazers take shots with just two of them on goal. California Baptist had 22 shots and 10 on frame.
