Trailblazer Tennis rallies for 5-2 win over Colorado Mesa

The Dixie State women's tennis team opened the Trailblazer Invitational and the spring portion of its 2019-20 season in thrilling fashion on Friday, rallying for a 5-2 win over Colorado Mesa at the Dixie State Tennis Courts.
 
The Trailblazers (4-3) found themselves at an early 1-0 deficit after dropping each of the three doubles matches. But the lead didn't last long for the Mavericks, as Dixie State claimed victories in five of the six singles matches to rally for the comeback victory.
 
Anna Peterson earned the first DSU point of the day with a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 6 singles, while Alexandra Hildreth cruised to a 6-2, 6-0 victory at No. 2. In her first regular-season match since re-joining the team in the spring, Sabrina Longson claimed a 6-1, 6-3 triumph at No. 5 singles, while Katelyn Longson battled to a crucial 7-5, 6-3 win at No. 4 to clinch the victory. Juliana Honczaruk added the fifth point with a 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 3.
 
Dixie State will resume play at the Trailblazer Invitational on Saturday against Western New Mexico. With rain in the forecast, the match has been moved up to 8:30 a.m.
