Trailblazers' Win Streak Stopped in Saturday Sweep at CMU

Dixie State saw its season-long seven-match winning streak come to an end in a hard fought three-set sweep at Colorado Mesa Saturday afternoon at Brownson Arena.

In a showdown between two of the top teams in the RMAC, the Mavericks raced to a 2-0 lead thanks to 25-19 and 25-21 set victories. Dixie State (8-4/3-1 RMAC) then battled back and forth with CMU in a third set that saw neither team lead by more than two points, and featured 22 ties and 11 lead changes. However Colorado Mesa would prevail as it scored the final two points of a thrilling 27-25 slugfest to close out the match.

Megan Treanor posted her team-leading seventh double-double of the season with 10 kills and 13 assists to lead the Blazers, while To'a Faleao added nine kills with six digs and two block assists. DSU hit .156 in the match and lost despite out-blocking CMU (8-5/4-1 RMAC) 9.0-8.0, including five total blocks for both Lauren Gammell and Sai Collins.

Dixie State will wrap up its four-match RMAC road swing next weekend with games at Adams State on Friday, Oct. 4, and at Fort Lewis on Saturday, Oct. 5.
