Trailblazers Complete Texas Sweep with 3-1 Win at Lubbock Christian

DSU collected 200th win in the program's NCAA era

Dixie State completed a perfect 4-0 run through the Lubbock Christian-hosted Chap Classic with a 3-1 victory over the Lady Chaps Saturday at the Rip Griffin Center. The win also served as the Trailblazers' 200th victory in the program's NCAA era (200-155; 2006-current).

The two teams came away with a split the opening sets, with DSU (5-3) claiming a 25-22 decision in the first frame, while LCU evened the match at 1-1 after a 25-23 triumph in set two. From there it was all Blazers as Dixie State scored 21 of the first 25 points of the third stanza en route to a 25-14 win, then used a late 8-1 rally to close out the match and weekend sweep with a 25-21 triumph in the final set.

To'a Faleao, who was named LCU Tournament MVP, led the Trailblazers with 15 kills, while Lauren Gammell connected for 14 kills and hit .591 to go with three total blocks (1 solo). Meanwhile, Megan Treanor came within one kill of notching her second triple-double on the trip as she collected nine kills, 15 assists and 14 digs, and Jordyn Nelson tallied 25 assists with 12 digs and two kills. In addition to Faleoa's honor, Gammell and Treanor were eached named to the all-tournament team.

Dixie State hit .260 in the match with 53 kills hitting against only 15 attack errors in the four sets. DSU held LCU (5-3) to a .141 clip thanks in part to 72 digs and five total team blocks.

Dixie State will open its final season of RMAC play next weekend inside the DSU SAC as the Trailblazers welcome in Black Hills State on Friday, Sept. 20, and South Dakota Mines on Saturday, Sept. 21. Both matches will start at 6 p.m.
