Trailblazers Blank Western Colorado in Regular Season Finale Sunday, 4-0

(2019 RMAC WOMEN'S SOCCER TOURNAMENT INFORMATION)

Kelsey Cook scored twice to lead Dixie State's women's soccer team to a 3-0 result over Western Colorado in the regular season finale for both sides Sunday morning at Colorado Mesa's Walker Field.

The Trailblazers closed the regular season with four-straight wins, and extended its unbeaten streak to six-straight overall (5-0-1), to move to 10-3-4 overall. DSU also clinched the third seed in the upcoming RMAC postseason tournament with an 8-2-3 (27 pts) mark in the RMAC table.

Cook struck for her first goal of the day, and her second game-winning goal of the season, midway through the opening half to give her side a 1-0 lead. The junior then tucked home her eighth goal of the year nearly eight minutes into the second half to extend the Trailblazer lead to 2-0.

Senior Kamie Hunter (1) would add an insurance goal just over 10 minutes later, which was her second career goal and the first since her freshman campaign to push the advantage to three goals. DSU was also gifted an "own goal" on an errant WCU defensive header with 18 seconds remaining that provided the final margin of victory.

The own goal was the second of the weekend as the Blazers won last Friday's match at CMU on a Maverick defensive miscue, and it was the third occurrence of the season for a DSU opponent overall.

DSU outshot WCU (3-13-1/3-9-1 RMAC) 28-2 in the match, 10-1 in shots on goal, and enjoyed a 13-1 edge in corner kick chances. Junior goalkeeper Adelle Brown (7-2-2) did not face a shot on goal in 63 minutes between the pipes as the Trailblazers' recorded their seventh clean sheet of the season and the fourth in their last six matches overall.

The 2019 RMAC Tournament begins with quarterfinal action at the home sites of the top-two seeds on Friday, Nov. 8. Dixie State will face No. 6 seed MSU Denver (7-8-3/6-4-3 RMAC - 21 pts) in Golden, Colo., on the pitch at No. 2 seed Colorado School of Mines at 2:30 p.m.
